A Jamgrass Band from Ohio. Rumpke Mountain Boys have been playing some of the best festivals in the country this year. In July, they played the Northwest String Summit in Washington State (One of the best Newgrass festivals the country has to offer). A crowd favorite everywhere they go because they are always the first to strike up a campfire jam for their fans. Look for them at a festival and campfire near you.

Originally called a Americana Folk Band. But, everyone agrees they are too much fun for that label. Lil' Smokeys are the definition of Newgrass. Americana Bluegrass Band that breaks all the rules to make sure you have a great time when they are playing. Winners of the Northwest String Summit String-Off Band Competition for 2013, this band is one to pay attention to.

Newgrass vs. Jamgrass
Newgrass Music and Jamgrass Music is basically the same thing. They are both unconventional improvisations of all styles of music with Bluegrass and Electric instruments. Newgrass is Fun! However, Jamgrass is a knee slappin, foot stompin, whiskey drinking, get out of your chair, and dance because you can't help it, kind of music where you really have a lot of fun!
We recently reviewed the Newgrass bands in the Atlanta area. One band stood out. The High Strung String Band from Athens, Ga. defined Jamgrass. Every song they played was performed as if they were having the time of their lives. That is what Jamgrass Music is about. Making music a lot of fun!
